BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

The death of someone we love, is a devastating experience. We are faced with the painful task of coping with all that bereavement brings and with the challenge of finding a new sense of life and purpose. All of this takes time - nearly always longer than we think - and help of many kinds may be needed.

At Cambridge we provide one to one support, a telephone helpline and support groups. Our groups include:

Coffee Mornings/Afternoons:

All bereaved people are welcome to drop in to these sessions and meet others who are also bereaved. They will also be able to receive a personal one to one sessions with a support volunteer.

Wesley Church, King Street, Cambridge

On the first four Wednesdays every month there is a coffee morning held at the Wesley Church, between 10.00am and 12 noon.

Ely Methodist Church Room

Coffee mornings are also held in Ely Methodist Church Room (access in from Chapel Street) every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month between 10.15am and 11.45am.

Down's Baptist Chapel, Upper Downs Slade, Camps Road, Haverhill, CB9 8HF

A coffee afternoon is held at the Garden Annexe, Downs Baptist Chapel, (by Christmas Maltings Surgery and the library) on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 2.00pm to 3.30pm.

Drop in Sessions:

St Andrew’s Hall, Chesterton, Cambridge

An evening drop in session is held on Tuesdays at St Andrew’s Hall, Cambridge on the 1st and third Tuesday evening of the month between 7.30pm and 9.00pm.

Support Groups:

Support groups offer an alternative to one-to-one bereavement support. They are run where a small group of bereaved people meet together to talk about their experiences and feelings and gain support from each other. They give you the opportunity to share your thoughts with other bereaved people in a similar situation to you, which can help to combat the feelings of isolation that can come with bereavement. The groups are run by our specially trained bereavement facilitators. At Cambridge we run a Special Group to help those who are bereaved by suicide. The Special Group meets the first Wednesday of every month at the Friends’ Meeting House, Hartington Grove, Cambridge.
