Volunteer training

Most regional training courses are internal courses run for volunteers who want to work with Cruse clients. Volunteers will need  to complete our Awareness in Bereavement Care course. Our Areas and Branches provide many training opportunities for volunteers. Most external courses run in the English regions are organised by Cruse center office. For more details please see our external training page. External courses run in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland are run by Cruse locally.

We regularly run training for National Helpline volunteers. Please see the helpline volunteer page for details.


South West Surrey

In September we will be delivering the new Cruse Bereavement Support Course which consists of three days core training module and two additional days skills practice for delivering one to one support.  In order to volunteer for SW Surrey Cruse you will need to complete all 5 days of training.

The course is due to start in September, the dates will be as follows:

16th & 30th September, 14th October, 11th & 18th November.

The dates are all Saturdays and will run from 9am to 4pm. The venue will be The Clockhouse, Chapel Lane, Milford GU8 5EZ.

The Oxfordshire Spring Awareness in Bereavement Care course for new volunteers will take place on the following Saturdays between 9.30am and 4.30pm at Wesley Memorial Hall, New Inn Hall Street, Oxford OX1 2DH. You need to attend a minimum of 7 of the 8 days.

Cruse Devon ABC training for new bereavement volunteers

Awareness in Bereavement Care

Accredited training course for anyone interested in becoming a bereavement volunteer with Cruse. 

Will run over 5 Saturdays from 9.30am until 4.30pm on the following dates:

at The Rosie, Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.
The course will be run on 3 Saturdays and 10 Wednesday evenings.

We are holding an Introduction Evening on February 1st 2017 7.00pm to 8.30pm at Oak Tree Centre Oak Drive Huntingdon PE29 7HN to present our Level 2 Foundation Course Awareness in Bereavement Care starting Saturday 25th February 2017 in central Huntingdon.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Area of Cruse Bereavement Care is running a nationally-approved course for all new volunteers wanting to work with Cruse clients. It is an interactive course, run by experienced trainers.

The course is also valuable for any individual, counsellor or therapist who wants to understand more about bereavement issues.

The Awareness in Bereavement Care course is run twice a year as we are continually recruiting for new volunteers. The course is 8 full days and is delivered on 4 weekends over a 9 week period. For dates of the next course and details of how to apply, please go to our website.


Cruse Bereavement Care Adult service needs more Bereavement Volunteers across the whole of Wales …

... could YOU help fill that gap? We are looking for volunteers who have some regular spare time to give and a desire to be involved.
You will need to attend an initial 8 day training course & complete course work (Location: Llandough Hospital board room, Cardiff, CF24 0SZ)
Dates: 11th, 18th, 25th June & 2nd, 9th, 23rd, 30th July 2017, then complete at least 15 hours of training thereafter per year as well as attend regular
supervision sessions.

Wirral are now recruiting Bereavement Volunteers and the Training course will commence on Saturday 25th February 2017. The course will run over a number of weekends and on two Tuesday evenings, ending on Tuesday 25th April.

If you are interested in becoming involved with Cruse Bereavement Care, a new course will be starting in January 2017.  The course will be held over eight Saturdays at Vine House, Ribbleton, Preston close to J31 of the M6 and is open to anyone who would like to become a volunteer. The course is FREE to those who wish to volunteer with us.
