Olga Thomas is a talented musician and is the resident composer for Cruse Bereavement Care. Olga has written classical music for the charity, including Cruse’s anthem ‘Restoring Hope’ and several pieces which have been presented to Cruse’s Royal Patron, Her Majesty The Queen.
“A friend of mine, who at the time was a Trustee for Cruse Bereavement Care told me about the charity and I found it was exactly what I was looking for. The idea of restoring hope is very close to my heart.
“I support Cruse by composing music and I donate all the proceeds to the charity. Since becoming their composer in residence I have written a number of pieces, including the charity’s anthem, “Restoring Hope” and music for Her Majesty The Queen.
“One of the highlights of my time supporting Cruse was attending a special reception for Cruse’s Golden Jubilee at St James’s Palace in 2009. I was honoured to meet Her Majesty The Queen and present her with a CD of compositions I created for her and her family.
“Another memorable moment for me was composing a single called ‘Royal Platinum Love Song’ to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh’s Platinum Wedding Anniversary. It went straight to Number 1 in the iTunes Classical Music Charts and it helped to raise money for Cruse.
“This year to celebrate Cruse’s 60th anniversary I am composing a special song for an event later in the year that I will be recording this summer with an orchestra.”
