Jane Cryer is one of our Trustees and has been on the board since 2017. Jane is a retired solicitor who specialised in cases involving fatal car crashes and violence against women. She has completed the Cruse bereavement volunteers’ course and is passionate about improving the support systems around bereavement.
Jane, says: “My dad died in a car crash when I was 26 years-old and pregnant with my second son. It still causes me pain, twenty five years on. I had no understanding of trauma, grief, mourning or loss at the time.
“Training to become a bereavement volunteer for Cruse changed that. I did the course in 2017, 23 years after my Father’s death and it gave me insight and permission to grieve.
“English reserve can be damaging, particularly to the completely natural process of mourning and grieving. By being a Trustee for Cruse, I see the charity’s huge reach and hope that we can transform the hurt that the bereaved feel by offering excellent bereavement support, whenever the bereaved feel that’s what they need.”
