Tina Challacombe has been a Trustee at Cruse Bereavement for two years. Having previously worked as a GP and as a member of the Cruse Council, Tina wanted to use her experience to improve communication across the charity’s network and improve support for bereaved people.
Tina says: “I became a Trustee because I wanted to represent the views of Cruse Council and the various regional services and help to improve communications between the Board and the network, as well as bring my own experience as a retired GP.
“I really enjoy interacting with and learning from the other Trustees. Making a contribution to decisions about strategy and governance.
“I am passionate about volunteering in my local area. I have been a volunteer at Cruse Greenwich for over 30 years and am currently the Chair. This involves supporting our bereavement volunteers and the management team who are making such a difference to people’s lives when they are going through very difficult and distressing times.
“One of the highlights of being a Trustee was attending the 2018 Cruse Conference and networking with volunteers from all over the country and learning so much from everyone. I think one of Cruse’s biggest achievements over the last 60 years has been expanding their range of services and reaching out and increasing access to all people who are bereaved.”
