The majority of the time children and young people (CYP) are seen within the environment of their own schools and our volunteers maintain close links with many of the schools in our Area. When we are not seeing the individual themselves we support and train teachers and other school and nursery employees on how to manage sometimes difficult CYP bereavement situations which may arise. In the financial year 2013-2014 South Kent Area suppported 24 children of primary age, 3 under 5's, 13 young teens (12-16) and 13 again in the 17-25 age bracket.
Cruse's Hope Again website has been designed for young people by young people and includes information and forums where young people can share their experiences. We also have information on what you can do to help a child or young person who is grieving, how to understand the concept of loss in children and young people of different ages and how to recognise potential complicated grief: Look at our children section here.
If you are a young person and someone you know has died why not send a private message to one of our trained volunteers at firstname.lastname@example.org who will reply to you by email. If you want to talk to someone direct, call our FREE phone helpline on 0808 808 1677.
