Bereavement Support in this area

It usually helps to talk but not everyone has somebody they can talk to in confidence. Our bereavement service is provided by experienced volunteers who receive full training. Our service is confidential and free. Clients are welcome to refer themselves to this service - it is not necessary to seek a referal through another party.

If you are supporting or caring for someone bereaved by death, we are able to provide help, information, education and publications to assist you.

From Joy, July 2020  "Thank you for your ongoing support and communication over the last few months. I feel I have come a long way since first contacting Cruse and am truly grateful to my bereavement volunteer for his compassion and empathy. Despite my initial reservations about sharing something so personal over the phone, I'm really glad I persevered".

How To Get Help

Please call our Branch Helpline on 01344 411919

  • After your initial conversation with a volunteer we will send you literature to explain what we offer and other supporting material
  • If you decide you would like to have support, we will arrange for a bereavement volunteer to contact you to offer an appointment for telephone support

Children and Young Adults

We provide support to meet the particular needs of children and young adults We also have specially trained volunteers available to offer one-to-one support in our area.

Hope Again is a Cruse website designed to help children and young adults and there is also a free young people's helpline on 0808 808 1677. Specialist e-mail support is also available. More information is also available on the main Cruse website

Groups

Our experience is that, through formal contact with others who have shared the experience of bereavement, new and lasting friendships can develop and this informal support network becomes a powerful force for good.

We arrange various groups for bereaved people as and when the need arises   These groups provide a safe and social environment and somewhere to meet others who have been bereaved by death.

These groups are not taking place at the moment due to the Corona virus pandemic but will hopefully resume when Government restrictions allow.

For more information please phone 01344 411919 or email us.
