Due to the current pandemic and ongoing social distancing, all Cruse services will be provided over the telephone, email or internet until further notice. Please contact us to find out more.
Anyone finding it hard to cope after the death of someone close can contact Cruse for information, advice and support. There is no time limit to the bereavement, it may be recent or have happened some years ago. We have a single Telephone Answering Service for all areas of West Sussex. Call 0300 311 9959 and leave your name and number and a volunteer will aim to call back within 48 hrs.
When we return your call, we can answer your queries and, if you decide you would like to see one of our Bereavement Volunteers, we will take further details and a Bereavement Volunteer will be allocated to you as quickly as possible. It is likely that you will have to wait a while before a volunteer is assigned to you. Once you have been allocated a Bereavement Volunteer, they will visit you in your own home for about an hour, usually on a weekly basis, at mutually agreed times.
The average number of sessions is about six but sometimes one or two are all that is needed and sometimes they may go on a bit longer. If it is not convenient to meet in your own home, we will try and arrange another location. During visits, the volunteer will listen and support you in your grieving and will help you to explore ways to cope better with your loss.
All Branches also offer ongoing Telephone Support and a range of group meetings:
- Friendship Groups are held in Durrington and East Grinstead
- Worthing & District branch has a fortnightly Drop-In Service and runs a Bereavement Support Group in Worthing and Shoreham-by-Sea.
