What happens when you get in touch?

When you get in touch, you will speak to a volunteer who will take some basic details about you and your bereavement. You may be asked to leave a message at first as our volunteers are unable to answer the phone at all times. Do please leave a message and we will call you back within, normally within 48 hours.

If you do not hear back from us it may be that we have tried unsuccessfully to contact you, so please phone again.

When you speak to the volunteer she will assess which of our services will suit you best. We do have waiting lists and she will advise you of how long you could have to wait. She may offer you the opportunity to attend one of the monthly group support meetings if you have to wait more than a couple of months. 

As soon as the service you want becomes available a volunteer will contact you. If you are having one to one support your volunteer will arrange the best time and place for your first session. You will then be offered weekly or fortnightly appointments over an agreed period of time, although this may be adjusted later if required.

If you are attending a group, the group organiser will let you know details of times, venue and what you may expect when you attend.

Missed appointments
Please let us know if you cannot attend an appointment, as the time can then be used to help the many other people on the waiting list. If you miss more than two appointments without letting us know that you cannot attend, we will assume that you are not ready for support and will not offer you further appointments.
