What we can offer

Cruse has offered a service to Coventry and Warwickshire since the 1980’s. We are divided into three branches so that we can tailor our services to meet local need. We usually support between 300 to 500 men, women, children and young people in the course of a year. All our volunteers who work with clients have completed the 45 hour Awareness in Bereavement Care course. Their work is supervised by qualified supervisors to ensure the quality of their work. They are also expected to attend regular training sessions to up-date their practice. One to one bereavement support We can offer individual, face to face sessions with one of our qualified bereavement volunteers, either in your own home or at one of our counselling rooms located in each branch.

One to one bereavement support

We can offer individual, face to face sessions with a volunteer give grieving people an opportunity to talk about their bereavement, to understand the grieving process and to explore ways of living more comfortably with their loss.

Bereavement support groups

Depending on where you live we offer a range of other services. These include both general and specialised closed client groups run by our bereavement volunteers. Support groups are for clients to meet other people who have also lost someone they love and who are experiencing the same sorts of feelings and emotions as they are. The meetings provide a friendly, safe environment for clients to express their thoughts and feelings to others who understand, and this enables them eventually to come to terms with their grief. Group meetings are small (between 2 and 6 people) and are facilitated by trained bereavement support volunteers. In branches where there is a significant waiting list prospective clients may be invited to attend monthly open groups. Here they will meet others who have also been bereaved and have the opportunity of mutual support. We also provide dedicated sessions for children and young people.
