Congratulations to Josephine Skipp, a Cruse Bereavement Volunteer who has been awarded an MBE for services to taxpayers and bereavement counselling. Congratulations also to Desney Patricia Cromey, awared an MBE for services to bereaved children in Northern Ireland. Mrs Cromey has been a Cruse volunteer in the past, and remained involved in children's bereavement services.

Greenwich Branch Chair Tina Challacombe recently had the honour of meeting HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at The Cutty Sark in Greenwich. The event on 28 May was to mark the 60th anniversary of the Duke becoming a Patron of the Cutty Sark.

Cruse is pleased to announce the launch of our new strategic plan for 2013-18. The plan sets out the key areas we will be focusing on over the next five years to address the challenges we are facing and the opportunities open to us. This will form the basis for all plans within Cruse. The areas we will be focusing on in the first twelve months include the development of telephone and online support, improving the support for Areas with the launch of a new Service Support Team and the recruitment of volunteers for fundraising.

A new project supporting people in the first six months of their bereavement has been launched by Cruse. The Early Intervention Project will create a new and innovative service for bereaved people living in England, who have suffered a sudden bereavement of someone very close to them.

Cruse is delighted to have been selected as one of two charity partners for PTS Plumbing limited. The joint partnership with Mind will see PTS staff raise awareness and funds for both charities over the next two years. The partnership kicked off at the FA’s national training centre at St George’s Park, Burton. Conference delegates donated over £4,000 and PTS will be encouraging their 300 Branches as well as friends, family and customers to get involved with a huge range of fundraising activities over the next year from our Footprints walks to skydives.
