The Cruse National Helpline offered extended hours on Tuesday 10 February to support anyone affected by the itv documentary Young War Widows.
Young War Widows is a portrait of three young women whose soldier husbands were killed fighting for their country in the most recent Afghanistan war.
It’s a film that takes us behind the public images of war widows and into their world. In Young War Widowns Sam, Victoria and Nikki tell their story entirely in their own words. The programme was broadcast itv at 9pm on Tuesday 10 February and is available on itv player until 11 March.
The telephone helpline is open Monday-Friday 9.30-5pm (excluding bank holidays), with extended hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, when we’re open until 8pm. Call us at any time up to 11pm on 0844 477 9400 to speak to one of our trained bereavement support volunteers, who offer emotional support to anyone affected by a bereavement. Our volunteers are here to help you talk things through, and they can also help you find your local Cruse service, or signpost you to support groups, financial advice, and other useful sources of information.Calls to the helpline cost 5.105p per minute from BT Landlines. Call costs vary from mobile phones. If you are concerned about the cost of the call please let us know and we will arrange for a volunteer to call you back.
