At Cruse we have over 50 years’ experience caring for people when someone close to them has died and we have worked in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society to develop a 1 day workshop as part of the “Bereaved by Dementia” project in Wales for organisations who work with individuals who are living with Dementia and their families. Bringing together the expertise of both charities, this workshop is designed to increase awareness and understanding of living with dementia and also introduce the core models and theories of bereavement that Cruse uses in our work to support bereaved people.
This workshop is suitable to staff in caring and support roles who work regularly with people who are living with dementia, but have little or no specialist knowledge of either dementia or bereavement. The focus of the workshop is to raise awareness, rather than develop in depth expertise, in either specialist area.
After the workshop participants will:
- Know how dementia impacts on experiences of everyday life and of bereavement
- Have gained knowledge, skills and confidence to support a person with dementia through bereavement
- Be aware of the impact of bereavement for families/friends/carers following the death of a person with dementia
Time: This workshop is a prompt 9am start and will run through till around approximately 5pm
Cost: £140 for charities, £155 for public sector, and £170 for private sector, all plus VAT
