Becoming a Volunteer in this area
There are two main types of volunteers who generously give up their free time to provide support for our clients.
Bereavement volunteers work directly with our clients (usually on a one-to-one basis). All volunteers who work with clients must attend our Ascentis accredited Bereavement Support Foundation Course (previously known as the Awareness in Bereavement Course) for details see under ABC course .Bereavement volunteers receive both one-to-one and group supervision and are required to attend monthly meetings. We ask all volunteers to carry a minimum caseload of two clients. We welcome men and women of all ages, races, cultures and backgrounds.
There is a wide range of work and roles which need filling that do not involve direct work with clients. These can be quite challenging positions for us to fill so we are always very interested to speak to anyone who might be interested in working in areas such as:
- Project management
- Grant and funding applications
Most of these positions do not require direct experience although transferrable skills are certainly very useful.
