Paul from Derry got in contact with his local Cruse Bereavement Care service in May 2017, seven years after his son Frankie died when he was just three-weeks old in 2010. He says his bereavement supporter, Frances had a huge impact on his life.
“My wife Leanne and I lost our son, Frankie, eight years ago when he was only three weeks old. My wife found a faith and comfort in the church. I, on the other hand, had a deep desire to self-destruct which was starting to affect all parts of my life.
“My wife and a close friend told me that I needed some support and recommended I reached out to Cruse Bereavement Care. That’s when I met Frances, my Cruse bereavement supporter. She was caring, thoughtful, inspiring and a true saviour.
“Over many months, Frances helped me process the events before, during and after Frankie’s passing. She walked me through every facet of my life, relationships, work and play and we worked through almost every emotion I have ever felt. In short, she gave me back my self-respect and helped me to rebuild my life again.
“I’m not sure if Frances has saved my life, but I’d say it’s quite possible, for I couldn’t go on feeling the way I did before. She’s helped me become a much better person and I am so grateful to her for that.
“So, thank you….. To all the wonderful staff at Cruse, and especially Frances, I’m happy to shout from up on high, to whoever will listen, just how special you all are and how much of an impact you have made on my life and on the lives of so many others.”
