A message from our Chief Executive

I'm writing this to ask for your help. Like many charities, we are under significant strain. Costs are rising and on top of that, around 50% more people than ever before are desperately seeking the help they need to find a way through their grief.

By Steven Wibberley · February 20, 2023

I’m Steven Wibberley, CEO of Cruse. I’m incredibly proud of the support we provide to all those struggling with grief, no matter what their circumstances. The pain of grief can be unbearable, and our volunteer and staff teams strive to ease that pain wherever they can.

Our current income simply won’t allow us to continue to provide our vital services to all bereaved people who need us. And it’s why I’m reaching out to ask for your help once again. Because a donation from you can make all the difference.

I know that times are difficult for so many people – and I’d like to assure you that even the smallest donation will help enormously. Just £5 could help towards the cost of one call to our Helpline for example, or £25 could be used to give one support session to someone in paralysed by the pain of grief.

Your donation – and those from others like you – have never been more vital.

Cruse has led the way in bereavement support for the last 60 years and we want to continue stronger than ever for those grieving. Many people who come to Cruse see us as a final resort. They reach out when they’ve lost all hope and have no way of seeing a way through the intense pain and suffering they’re experiencing.

“If I hadn’t been to Cruse, I wouldn’t be here now. When my husband died I was at the bottom of the steepest hill and I didn’t know my way up. But when I walked through Cruse’s doors it was the start of that journey.”

Our support services are a lifeline, and at a time when costs are spiraling we really don’t want to have to close our doors to more people in need.

Please, can you help by making a donation today? Every penny raised will help towards the costs of supporting grieving people.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

We are working hard as an organisation to pull together but also desperately need your help.

We know times are tough right now, but ask you to give any amount that you can. Every pound you donate will help to safeguard our future, support our services and mean we can continue to be there for the grieving people who desperately need us.

Thank you for your support.”

Can you help us?

Whatever you can spare will help us continue to support more grieving people.
