Our fundraising

From running to sponsored headshaves, our supporters were out in force in 2022. Fundraising in current times is more challenging than ever but the enthusiasm of our supporters keeps us going!

It’s been a tough year for fundraising. Last year we were so grateful to receive some extra funding to help with our panedemic response, and we couldn’t be more grateful. But there are always so many demands on our serives and this year many people who we know would love to support us are struggling with their cost of living. The effects of the pandemic are still making it harder for many people to take part in some traditional events.

We’ve been supported by more charitiable trusts and foundations and had some fantasitc support from corportate supporters and partners (you can see a full list here). For example Ty donated £100,000 to Cruse and their special Beanie Bear to honour Queen Elizabeth II, with Cruse featured on the label, has been a best seller.

Our amazing events

Loads of supporters put on their running shoes for races across the country including the real and virtual London Marathon. Well done to all those who took part and raised thousands for Cruse.

Well what an experience! And I could not have been any prouder than I was running for Cruse. Thank you to all of your team for allowing me the opportunity to fundraise for you; you’re all incredible! My partner has also said that he would love to run for Cruse next year because of how much they’ve helped me, so we’re spreading the word about you all.

But running is only one of the options for raising funds. In the past year our supporters have also held sponsored headshaves at their golf clubs, taken part in concerts, and hosted morning talks for vulnerable people all arranged by our amazing volunteers.

As the days grew longer we held a series of Light up the night events, which give people a wonderful chance to remember those they have lost as well as a chance to give something to Cruse if they felt they could.

Towards the end of the year we welcomed a new Ambassador – 2021 Bake off finalist Chigs has shared his own story with us, and chosen to support us in 2023 by climbing Kilimanjaro!

We look forward to seeing what Chigs and our other inspiring supporters get up to in 2023.
