Tribute to Gerard Jacques, 1963 – 2025

It is with sadness that we share the news that Gerard Jacques, a dedicated trustee of Cruse Bereavement Support and Chair of our People and Culture Committee, died recently.

September 19, 2025

We want to pay tribute to the lasting legacy Gerard leaves behind and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew and loved him.

“Gerard made a significant contribution to Cruse and we will all miss his warmth, kindness and generosity of spirit.”

Lucy Harmer, CEO

Gerard joined our charity’s Board of Trustees in 2020. With a professional background in senior HR roles across multiple sectors, Gerard brought warmth and wisdom to his role.

He brought with him a wealth of experience, compassion, and commitment. During his time with Cruse, he played a central role in shaping and strengthening our culture, ensuring that important values to Cruse  – kindness, support, and empathy – were reflected not just in our services and fundraising, but in the way we work together as an organisation.

In addition to his governance role as trustee for Cruse, Gerard climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Cruse and our work with bereaved people.

“Working alongside Gerard as a trustee at Cruse was a real pleasure. He understood the pain of bereavement and was deeply committed to supporting people at this difficult time in their lives. He brought a unique blend of thoughtfulness and humanity to every situation.”
